Synopsis :
De lichaams-telling gaat door in deze levendige thriller, de vierde -maar niet de laatste- film in de succesvolle Friday the 13th serie. Jason, in Crystal Lake de minst populaire inwoner, keert terug naar het stadje om wraak te nemen. Het optimisme en geloof in een rechtvaardige maatschappij had plaatsgemaakt voor cynisme en toonde een wereld die bevolkt was door corrupte, egoïstische en gewelddadige personages. Cain, Raymond Chandler en Mickey Spillane. Vandaar ook dat sommige filmcritici film noir eerder als een subgenre van de misdaadroman beschouwen.

Billy Wilder maakte enkele jaren na Double Indemnicok en The Lost Weekend enkele noirs die niet zozeer krimi s waren, maar eerder satires op de Hollywoodproducties: Sunset Boulevard (1950) en Ace in the Hole (1951).
